They responded to this video because it is catchy, recent and popular culture are mentioned throughout, and it serves as an (unintentional?) PSA. The song is an easy one to love/hate because it gets stuck in your head, reminding people of dental hygiene. Also, if you were on facebook during its peak period, it was hard to get away from it.
Social and Cultural Factors
Lady Leshurr's Episode 4 song is easy to get stuck in the head, making it people love or hate. If viewers didn't jump ship or become intrigued when she obviously disrupted traffic in her video, the "Brush Your Teeth" lyrics appear on screen at 1:14, not being able to take her seriously. Hip-hop/rap songs can have the tendency to embody "edgy-ness" and while her rap is relevant, the idea of "brushing your teeth" is something we learn as children. So for teens and adults, its easy to write her off.
I argue that her video served as a PSA for the internet and annoyingly reminding us of our dental hygiene because when we get a song stuck in our head ITS THERE.

Songs feel contagious when they get stuck in our brain. I also think of how on Facebook, the song went viral so fast. This partially has to do with how YouTube has been losing views to Facebook based videos. I correlate Facebook to the water well in The Ghost Map because we can only avoid going online for so long... like people need water at some point...
*My initial reaction:
I wanted to dislike this song as soon as I noticed she was disrupting traffic and making a rap about brushing your teeth. After watching it the first time, I brushed it off. Later she kept coming up on my newsfeed and on top of that the song couldn't get out of my head!
The upside: I've remembered to brush my teeth more since watching.
